Alloy 718 (UNS N07718, W Nr 2.4668) is an austenitic nickel-based superalloy. Alloy 718 exhibits excellent high yield tensile and creep-rupture properties at temperatures up to 1300ºF and oxidation resistance to 1800ºF. Alloy 718 is used in applications that require high strength such as parts for jet engines and high speed airframe parts such as wheels, buckets, spacers and high temperature bolts and fasteners.

 Mechanical Properties
There are two main types of solution annealed and aging treatments:

Solution anneal at 1870 °F to 1925°F for 1 hour min to 2.5 hours max. Cool in air, insert gas, water, polymer or oil to room temperature.
Age harden at 1425 °F  to 1475°F  for 6 to 8 hours. Cool in air, insert gas, water, polymer or oil to room temperature

Tensile Strength 150ksi min
Elongation in 4D 20% min
Reduction of Area OD< 254mm, 35% min
OD>254mm, 25% min
Hardness 32-40 HRC

Anneal at 1725°F to 1850°F for 1.5 hours per inch cross section, or 30 minutes at temperature measured on a heat-sink. Air cool or faster.
Age hardened at 1400°F+/-25°F for 5 hours. Furnace cool at 100°F/hour to 1200°F+/-25°F. Hold at 1200°F for a total aging time of 8hours. Air Cool.
Or
Age hardened at 1325°F+/-25°F for 8hours. Furnace cool at 100°F/hour to 1150°F+/-25°F. Hold at 1150°F for a total aging time of 18 hours. Air cool.
